Pacific Commons, Mixed-Use Dev. Fremont

Pacific Commons is a prominent California business park and mixed-use development and will be home to many high-tech businesses and well-known companies.  It also serves the retail needs for residents of Fremont and other nearby cities.  Significant in size, Pacific Commons encompasses 757 acres and includes 8.3 million square feet of business park space including a retail component.  It is located in the area south of Auto Mall Parkway and west of I-880 in the City of Fremont.

In the late 1980s, Catellus Development Corporation selected TJKM to perform all traffic analyses for the project EIR and the geometric design for the traffic master plan.  TJKM wrote the initial Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plan for the development, a document that identified and encouraged strategies for reducing traffic congestion by use of carpools, transit and pedestrian activity.  TJKM designed several signalized intersections within the project site and the signing and striping for all phases of the development.

Pacific Commons includes a 730,000-square-foot retail power center with major tenants such as Kohl's, Circuit City, Costco, Lowe’s, Old Navy, Linens n' Things, Office Depot, In-N-Out Burger, Claim Jumper and DSW.  TJKM provided traffic analysis and intersection design services for this major center.

ProLogis recently acquired Catellus Development Corporation, Pacific Commons’ original developer.  TJKM has worked directly with Catellus/ProLogis on this project and continues to provide traffic engineering consultation to them regularly.
