TJKM To Help Ease Traffic along Corral Hollow Road in Tracy

Corral Hollow Road, a key corridor spanning the entire length of the City of Tracy, connects residents to schools, businesses, retail centers, the West Valley Shopping Mall, entertainment venues, and dining establishments throughout the City. Congestion along the corridor has resulted in intolerable delays, and an improvement plan is now underway.

The City of Tracy selected TJKM to design corridor improvements that will include adding a travel lane in each direction along a portion of Corral Hollow Road by modifying the median.  Implementation of improved traffic signal timing and ITS strategies will achieve the goal of enhancing the portion of Corral Hollow Road from Schulte Road to Clover Road.

As part of the project consultant team, TJKM’s traffic engineering services include:

• Traffic signal designs or modifications for nine Corral Hollow Road intersections, including signing and striping, emergency vehicle pre-emption, street lighting design, and signal interconnect
• Development and implementation of signal timing plans
• Preparation of a Precise Plan Line study for the proposed Kavanagh Avenue extension to establish the street alignment and access necessary to best serve the parcels on the west side of Corral Hollow Road to plan for future development.  TJKM completed the initial study in 2007 and the final design for the segment of Corral Hollow Road north of Grant Line Road to the West Valley Mall is scheduled to be completed in Summer 2010

The design for this project will be completed in 2010, with phased construction anticipated to begin in early 2011.  Completion of this project will result in improvements for traffic signal timing at the nine intersections, pedestrian safety, traffic circulation and safety, air quality, and will also stimulate the development of commercial properties adjacent to Corral Hollow Road.
